Shauna Kay Fowler was born and raised in Bountiful Utah.
She attended schools in Bountiful and graduated from
Viewmont High School in 1987. After high school she
worked in New Jersey and Texas as a nanny. She met and
married her husband Ken while she was working in Texas.
She
moved back to the Utah area with her husband in 1990 and
lives with her husband and 2 children in Farmington. She
attended cosmetology school and worked several years as
a cosmetologist and then as an aid in elementary schools
while her children were young.
Shauna been interested in art her entire life and has
been involved art classes, drawing, cross-stitching,
pastel drawings and various craft projects. Several
years ago she saw a program showing a gourd artist
demonstration. She thought she could probably do the
same and began experimenting and carving gourds for
herself, friends and family. Creating these few gifts
for family and friend continued for several years.
In
2006 on a trip to Mesquite to visit her husband’s
parents she brought some of the gourds to work on during
her free time. Her family encouraged her to show her
gourds to the local Mesquite art gallery to get their
impression of her work. They were impressed, and
purchased the gourds.
She
has since been more active in carving gourds. Her work
includes her impression of Southwestern and Indian
designs, wildlife and other themes that interest her.
She
has shown her work in the Farmington Days art show, and
galleries in Heber Utah and Mesquite Nevada.
